Friar Fest is a weekend celebration of faith where high school youth are lead by the Franciscan Friars of Renewal through prayer and instruction before the Blessed Sacrament, to have a personal encounter with Christ and grow in a deeper relationship of heart and mind with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ.
Thanks to the generosity of the Order of Malta Federal Association, Memphis Region; this retreat is offered free of charge to any youth who wants to participate. It’s success is dependent on the work of young adult volunteers who make an impact on the spiritual lives of young people.
How you can participate
Small Groups
On Saturday, April 11, we are in need of 30 young adults to lead small group discussions. The discussions follow talks given by the friars themselves and are related to who Christ is and to the sacrament of reconciliation. We’ll have a brief training and some discussion questions to get you started. Our youth today are looking for young adult role models who will take the time to listen and provide some guidance. This is a short-term opportunity to make a difference. The commitment is from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Lunch is provided along with breaks. Adoration
Overnight, adults volunteer to take a Holy Hour in Adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament to keep watch and to pray. If you would like to support this event, please consider committing to one hour over the weekend. We will send out reminders and instructions closer to the date of the event. Set-Up/Clean-Up
We are in need of future saints who are willing to devote a small portion of their time on either Friday, April 10, or Sunday, April 12 to help transform the Holy Rosary Gym into a sacred space for the weekend and to return it back to its original condition when the retreat is finished. We especially need help on April 12 from 1 to 4 PM at the end of a long weekend to support the volunteers who have worked so hard. Sign up at friarfest.com/volunteers.html
