“To each her own.”
“Who am I to judge?”

We live in a world of relativism where “what’s true for you is true for you, and what’s true for me is true for me”. This is the moral relativism that Pope Francis calls “the spiritual poverty of our time”.

“The spirit of the world,” he cautioned, tempts us with “the deceptive light of relativism, which obscures the splendor of truth and, shaking the earth beneath our feet, pushes us toward the shifting sands of confusion and despair.”

Come join us for Theology on Tap where Fr. Augustine DeArmond O.P. from St. Peter Church will help us unpack moral relativism and how we can respond to it in our day to day lives.

About Our Speaker:

Fr. Augustine Joseph DeArmond O.P. (Fr. Auggie) grew up in Springfield, Louisiana in a large, Sicilian, Cajun-French family. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where he earned a Bachelor of General Studies and a Master of Arts in English with a Concentration in Professional Writing in 2006. Fr. Auggie can remember feeling the call to the priesthood into high school and college, but it wasn’t until after his graduate studies that the Dominicans began to attract him. When asked why he chose the Dominican order, he said he knew “first and foremost I wanted to preach and teach. Coming from a large Catholic family, I value faith-filled community.” The Dominicans were a perfect fit for him.
On June 22 of 2013, Bishop J. Terry Steib ordained Fr. Augustine O.P. to the priesthood at St. Peter Catholic Church, where he still resides today.
